Timeskip!

This is a major event in both versions of the game, but it has much larger impact on Brother Nier as a character in both a physical sense and in a personal (as in mental/personality) sense. There's an entire essay I could practically get into about how Brother Nier changes into essentially an entirely different character from the timeskip, but it's my birthday today and I really don't feel up to explaining shit like "the idealism of childhood vs. the realism of every day life", "distortion of player expectations alongside Nier's" and "effects of childhood trauma on the personality of adults in later life".

So here's a picture

This is Brother Nier in Part 2. He's on the cover of the game so it's not a surprise that the twerp we saw in brief pictures and video snippets turns into him.

Brother Nier is now an entirely different character, absolutely nothing like the wide eyed, overly happy idiot boy we left behind 5 years ago. He's a lot more like Father Nier now, so a lot of you people will like him more. Just imagine all that attitude Father Nier has, that "I won't put up with this shit" attitude? It's even more outspoken and violent now because he's 21, his hormones are raging, and he's pissed. There's a whole post I could do later on about how much he's changed, but we'll get to that when we get to that.
